"Therefore, I command you, saying, 'You shall set aside three cities of refuge for yourself.'" ~Deuteronomy 19:7
—Lord God, You laid this passage about cities of refuge for those being chased by avengers of blood on my heart yesterday and I said, "What? How am I supposed to pray about that? If I am really hearing from You and not my flesh, then bring it to my mind in the morning again and show me how and what to pray, because I am at a loss."
Lord, You said to build 3 cities of refuge because You are 3 in 1. We have You living in us so that we might be cities of refuge for those being chased by the one who considers himself to be the avenger (the evil one, Satan) and demands more blood, even though You paid the ultimate price in full for us with the blood of Jesus, the One and only Perfect Sacrifice for our guilt.
Those being chased are those who do not know Jesus and so have never received Him as Savior and Lord. The enemy cries out for their blood and will chase them down into their grave if we do not provide a refuge for them by sharing Jesus.
We are to be Your 'cities on a hill' (Matthew 5:14) with Your Light shining brightly in us, cutting through the darkness so the lost can find the Way to You! You go on to say in verse 8 of Deuteronomy 19, "If the Lord your God enlarges your borders, as He has sworn to your fathers to do, (Daddy asked for this right before he went home with You), and gives you all the land He has promised to give to your fathers - IF you keep and carefully observe all these commands which I am commanding you today, to love the Lord your God and to walk (that is to live each and every day) always in His ways (love your neighbor as yourself) - THEN you shall add three more cities (of refuge) for yourself besides these three."
Every person who is added to Your Kingdom is made complete in You! Father, cultivate the gardens of our hearts. Pull up the weeds binding us to the things of this world and set our hearts aflame with the glory of Your Holy Spirit within us! Make us bright and shining cities of refuge for the lost, set upon the Solid Rock Hill of Jesus!
Jesus said, "Come unto Me all you who are weary and burdened (weary from running and burdened by sin) and I will give you rest." ~Matthew 11:28. How can they find their way if they are surrounded by darkness? They are groping like the Egyptians when plagued by darkness. (Exodus 10:23)
Father, fan the flames of Your Holy Spirit within us that we might be on fire and light up this world for Your glory! Wherever we go physically or in spirit through prayer, use Your Fire within us to catch others on fire for Your glory as we give them refuge by sharing Your love and forgiveness with them! In Jesus' precious and most holy name I pray - AMEN!
