A Revelation Of Love

"So I took hold of the two tablets and threw them from my two hands and smashed them before your very eyes! Then, as before, I fell down before the Lord for another forty days and forty nights; I did not eat food or drink water, because of all the sin you had committed by doing what was evil in the sight of the Lord to provoke him to anger. For I was afraid of the anger and absolute fury which the Lord had against you, enough divine fury to destroy you, but the Lord listened to me that time also." ~Deuteronomy 9:17-19

—A beautiful picture of what You were about to do in Jesus can be found here, Lord. Grant us eyes to see, ears to hear and minds that understand it. The disobedience of Your people brought about Your Word being broken and destroyed, but if we keep reading we find in chapter 10 that You resurrected Your Word. Jesus, the Word made flesh, was broken and died because of our disobedience, but He was made whole and brought back to life!

No longer is Your Word written on tablets (hearts) of stone, but on hearts of flesh (Jeremiah 31:33-34). Not only this, but just as Moses interceded for the Israelite people, Jesus has become our Great Intercessor (Romans 8:34). He is constantly at Your right hand telling of His great love for us. I can see Him in my mind's eye pointing out when we reveal our love through obedience. Thank You, Jesus!

So now, Father, what does this mean for Your people today? We have had so many gifts bestowed on us that we are either ignorant of and so don't use, or in our pride, think we don't need. Forgive us for both and help us to see that the Fruit of the Spirit, Your armor, the talents You bestow, the Holy Spirit gifts of prophecy, preaching, teaching, etc., are not for us to set aside and end up burying in cares of this world, but to use in order to reveal to this dark and dying world that You are Light for their darkness and Life for their spirits!

In doing so, we fulfill the work of the Law: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself ( that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others). The whole law and the writings of the prophets depend on these two Commandments." ~Matthew 22:37-40

Help us remember that You loved us enough to die a gruesome death for us and have commanded us to love others in return. Obedience in this reveals our love for You. Help us love the unlovable, because we were once them and You loved us anyway. In Jesus' loving and precious name I ask it, Amen.
