—Jesus said the meek, or the humble, will inherit the earth in Matthew 5:5. Humility comes when we find our strength in the LORD and allow Him to establish our footsteps. We fall in alignment with the path of humility when we allow the Holy Spirit to illuminate our journey and recognize the power He gives is limitless.
We must also remember this power is not our own to wield. The Holy Spirit wields His mighty power in us when we humble ourselves in full submission to His authority. Praise God! The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you and in me when we have planted our faith firmly in Jesus.
If our Master made himself nothing, even submitting to death for the redemption of many, but also possessed the very power and authority that raised Him from the dead, how much more should the servant of the Master, you and me, be willing to humble ourselves before the world? This is a hard lesson, but ask the Holy Spirit to give you insight and understanding. He will.
It is so easy for us to read or watch the news and focus on the injustice all around us. The only injustice facing the world today is this: the enemy has blinded mankind from the truth of Jesus Christ.
I am calling you, and also myself, to take a long look in the spiritual mirror that Jesus sets before us all and ask yourself these questions:
1. Am I reflecting the humble strength of Jesus when I post that divisive post?
2. Am I demonstrating the humble strength of Jesus when I commit that selfish action?
3. Am I promoting the humble strength of Jesus when I speak an evil word?
Anything written, committed or spoken without love, truth and the Holy Spirit of unity is to miss the mark, which is to sin against God and humanity.
If what you post kills, steals, divides “them against us” and destroys, then do not post it. If what you are about to do puts yourself or worldly cause ahead of the cause of Christ, to seek and save the lost, then do not do it. If what you are about to speak promotes death and not life, then do not speak it. The Holy Spirit speaks to my heart first, and now to you also.
You might be asking yourself: How can I put on the humble strength of Jesus?
It begins with understanding who the enemy truly is, and not just understanding, but internalizing your understanding of the enemy on a spiritual level. If you do not recognize the enemy, you will never win the battle.
The enemy is not the President. The enemy is not the people who make up the Congress, the Senate or the Judiciary. The enemy is not the people of China, North Korea, Russia or Iran. The enemy is not the rioter or the destroyer of property and life. The enemy is not the conservative or the leftist. The enemy is not the police officer. The enemy is not the racist, the bigot, or the social justice warrior. The enemy is not the LGBT or women’s choice activist. The enemy is not the Evangelical Christian or the Muslim.
The enemy is not mankind—All people of all generations have been lied to by the enemy. Many people have fallen into his claws of death; they do whatever he tells them, because he has held them captive since the fall of man. The enemy carefully and strategically prowls around, orchestrating death, division and chaos in the world; most notably in these last days. Many men and women have been lured into servitude by the enemy, but they themselves are not the enemy.
You may ask: Who is the enemy?
The enemy is and always has been the Fallen One, the devil. He has tempted, tricked and lied to mankind since the beginning of creation. Until you have established a deep conviction that mankind is not your enemy, you will never inherit the earth under the humble strength of Jesus.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
~Ephesians 6:10-12 NIV
