Peaceful Living

"Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many." Hebrews 12 (NIV)

Regardless of what is going on in the world around us, we are called to be holy, because without holiness, no one will see our Lord, Jesus Christ, through us. There is so much anger in the world around us, and often this anger stems from Christians forgetting to live in peace with everyone... and in forgetting, the Prince of Peace is mocked, ridiculed.

God alone is Holy. We are only made holy by the blood of Jesus Christ and regeneration through the Holy Spirit. Let's strive to live in peace with everyone, even if in doing so, our worldview is challenged (I am not referring to Biblical views - some of us need to take a second look at the motives of others to truly understand why they do what they do), and allow the Holy Spirit to make us holy so the world might see our Lord through us and also be comforted by such peace.

True peace is not found in our heritage, our family privilege, our understanding of the world, our own intellect or anything we ourselves can do, and nor does it come from anything the government can do for us, or even... (dare I say?) our political views.

True peace comes when we fall in alignment with the life-changing purpose God has for us all, every last one of us (not just ordained pastors/missionaries/ministers, but YOU too): "To be His Marketing Agents (Tony Evans)", i.e., to glorify Him.
