I've thoroughly enjoyed reading through entire books of the Bible in single sessions of late, and man has it been awesome! If you haven't ever done this before, you've got to try it!
Today, I read through the book of Acts, and while I took an entire class over this one book in college, it didn't seem so alive as it did today.
There is so much real life going on throughout the land, humor, intensity, sincerity, heartbreaking sadness, rejoicing and the apostles are just so real... From their discussions and meetings together, to them resolving conflicts and doctrinal difference, to always being amazed at the goodness and miracles of God and the works of the Holy Spirit. Peter being Peter, the new and improved, and Saul being Paul, the new and improved... I fell in love with the apostles and their hearts for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I was laughing, crying and intensely nervous as people are depicted as people, and God as God. The message is clear, Jesus is so real and alive throughout this entire historical narrative... If you haven't read it in a while, I highly recommend it.
I took a nap afterward, and was literally in the book of Acts, dreaming about the first century church, the apostles, elders and disciples and the mighty work of the Holy Spirit. I didn't want to wake up!
What an amazing time in the birth of the church!
Everything Jesus did at the birth of the church, and through the church, is for NOW, people! I mean, TODAY! He intended this for all generations haha What are we waiting for? Love it!
