Every Blessing Comes From God

Tiffany and I consider these past several weeks as a time of blessing from God. While waiting for his next move, we’ve been able to meditate on his word and seek him more profoundly in prayer. Tiffany and I are at a waiting point in this journey. We are simply waiting for the next page in the road map to be revealed to us. When I think about it, I envision our family sitting on the side of the road at a bus stop, bags packed, and simply waiting on the bus to arrive. If the bus has been delayed for some reason, we trust God knows and is working things out according to his timing and perfect will as we wait. Meanwhile, Tiffany, the kids and I are enjoying life together, laughing and praising God for the many blessings he has given us along the way.

As I was reading chapter seven of 2 Samuel today, I was reminded of how sometimes I struggle with exalting myself rather than humbly praising God for the many blessings he pours out upon our lives. God gave a vision to Nathan to speak to King David. God was going to build a house for David; his kingdom would be established and endure forever, making a great name for King David among men forever. God proclaimed a pouring out of blessing upon David’s life and the life of his descendants, painting a beautiful picture of the coming of Christ. What was David’s response? David humbled himself to the place of a servant and “sat before the Lord” and praised him for the many blessings and the revelation of the future kingdom, as spoken through Nathan.

As I ponder the many blessings of God and where he has brought Tiffany and me, I am humbled at what he has entrusted to us, his mere servants. I love how David sat before the Lord. This image brings to mind a humble posture, but also the image of a child sitting before his father, listening to his every word and responding in humble gratitude and praise.

Tiffany and I continue to wait. We strive to be obedient to whatever the Lord might ask of us, and we are eagerly anticipating his revelation in our lives. Let us choose joy every day and trust in his strength when our faith grows weak. Let us lean on his WORD and trust in his perfect plan when doubt begins to creep into our lives, and let us praise him for the many blessings he has poured out on our lives with a humble spirit, recognizing every blessing comes from God.

Tiffany and I thank you for your many prayers and support. We are eagerly waiting for our home to sell so that we can move forward with the ministry we believe God has placed in our hearts. May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.
